Whether you’re trying to identify an ancestor, solve a family mystery or learn more about the lives of the people who came before you, it starts with questions. The research process is straightforward and collaborative.

Free 30-Minute Initial Consultation

I begin with finding out what you already know, what records or family information you have and what you’d like to discover. Together we define the goals of the project and determine the best place to begin.

Fees

I research both your mother and father’s side of the family (if that is what you have requested)

4 generations – This includes the home person (you), your parents, grandparents and great grandparents

6 generations - … Includes home person (you), your parents, grandparents, great grandparents, 2nd great grandparents, and 3rd great grandparents

4 generations - $1,400

6 generations - $2,000

Research Plan

As I begin, I review the information you provided and develop a focused research plan. This helps me identify the records, locations, repositories and sources that I’ll use to create a family history for you. Records I’ll use may include census, military, newspapers, immigration, cemetery and other historical sources.

Analysis and Verification

Finding a record is only part of the process. Information from different sources must be evaluated to determine whether it truly belongs to your ancestor. Conflicting information, spelling variations, dates, relationships and locations are carefully examined before conclusion are reached.

Stories and Documents

At the conclusion of the research, I create an individual narrative for each person, bringing together the facts, events, relationships and historical details discovered along the way. Each ancestor’s story is accompanied by the records and documents to support it, so you receive not just names and dates, but a documented account of the life they lived.
